In Settimo Milanese, Sofia Carta Studio has transformed a 90-square-meter apartment into a sophisticated residence, where classic details, fine materials, and a contemporary atmosphere coexist in perfect harmony.

There are projects that do not seek an immediate visual impact, but rather build their identity through balance, proportions, and the quality of their details. The Gelsomino project stems from this vision, transforming a city apartment into a refined and welcoming space where contemporary design meets classical elements reinterpreted with a modern sensibility.

The project revolves around a quest for visual harmony and material continuity. Each room was designed to convey a sense of calm and natural elegance through a delicate palette of ivory, beige, and sand tones, which amplify natural light and enhance the home’s spatial qualities.

The interior architecture stands out for its use of elements that draw on traditional decorative motifs, reinterpreted in a minimalist and contemporary style. The wood paneling subtly defines the walls, introducing rhythm and depth without weighing down the spaces, while the arches serve as connecting elements between the rooms, softening the perspectives and helping to create a welcoming and sophisticated atmosphere.

The living area is conceived as a fluid and luminous space, where the kitchen, dining area, and living room interact through coordinated materials and colors. The kitchen, characterized by clean lines and minimalist forms, blends seamlessly into the setting thanks to its neutral tones and its ability to integrate discreetly into the room’s architecture. The Vienna straw chairs add a textural touch with a timeless character, while the rounded shapes of the table and furnishings help create a pervasive sense of softness and comfort.

The continuity between the spaces is also achieved through the light-toned wood parquet, laid in a herringbone pattern, which runs throughout the entire home, lending warmth and visual uniformity. The choice of authentic materials and tactile surfaces creates elegant yet never formal spaces, designed to be enjoyed spontaneously.

Particular attention was paid to the bathrooms, conceived as spaces of exceptional aesthetic and sensory quality. The large stone-effect ceramic slabs, characterized by spectacular veining and surprising chromatic depth, take center stage in the space, transforming the surfaces into true decorative elements. Brass finishes introduce exquisite details that complement the warmth of the wood and the textural quality of the wall coverings, helping to create a sophisticated and contemporary atmosphere.

The character of the interiors is also defined by a careful approach to materials. While using a variety of materials—from wood to fabric, from lacquered surfaces to stone-effect finishes, and even the decorative textures of the walls—the design maintains a rigorous color consistency. The table, upholstered pieces, headboard, custom-made furniture, and accessories interact through a palette of ivory, sand, and cream tones that creates visual continuity and enhances the sense of harmony. Natural light thus becomes an integral part of the design, transforming the various surfaces throughout the day and highlighting nuances, depth, and textures. The result is a welcoming and sophisticated space, where contrast arises not from color but from the interplay of materials, textures, and light reflections.

With Gelsomino, Sofia Carta Studio brings to life a vision of contemporary living that eschews excess and draws its strength from balance, the quality of design choices, and the ability to create spaces destined to retain their charm and identity over time.
