FAQ

What is a Press Kit?

A media kit is a set of materials, high-resolution images, content, files and information. The press kit can be created to “talk” about anything. In general, the folder consists of subfolders, one with high-resolution images that could also be sketches or 3D files, and one with texts. The text folder should contain a file with the description of what we want to talk about, one with the contacts/addresses that we want to disclose and, for companies or professionals, also a logo and a short bio.

When properly created and easy to access, a press kit can make your “business/art” more likely to appear in published articles and increases the accuracy and consistency of how your business is presented. A media kit produces several benefits, all focused on amplifying the advantages of appearing in the press/social media. Being mentioned in the media through reviews, announcements, press releases and industry-focused discussions is often useful for your brand. The more people are exposed to your “brand,” the more leads you will receive. Remember that the “press” could be virtually anyone, from national news organizations to local bloggers.

Who can see my project / press kit?

The Thus Newswire portal is open to everyone, therefore anyone can see your project. However, only authenticated users can download your Projects/Press Kit. What does authenticated mean? Before downloading the material, users will have to register by entering their credentials, including professional details like their email address and the page/portal/web/magazine they work for, or prove they are freelancers. In that case, we will provide them with the first access keys.

What kind of material should be included?

There is no unique formula, only recommendations. *The media prefer high-resolution photos (300 dpi) as they can be easily edited to suit any editorial requirement, since each media outlet has its own editorial protocol to follow. Therefore using high resolution files allows for larger distribution. *Images must always be accompanied by a descriptive text; sometimes a publication is rejected for lack of text. We prefer long texts (max 1200 words) to short texts. This way, editors have more opportunities to adjust the text to their needs. *A short bio, as it’s interesting to know who you are (max 300 words). *Your primary contacts, i.e. email and web page. *A logo (optional).

What is media monitoring?

Upon publication of your project, you will receive the passwords to access your personal area. Here you will find your published projects, and for each of them there will be a report of the visits, i.e. how many users viewed and downloaded your project. What’s more, you’ll be able to view the details of each contact, since also those who have the right to download the project must be registered users.

How long will my files be available on the portal?

The availability on the portal does not have a time limit. Your press kit can therefore remain visible to all. Only the distribution contract will have a duration of 18 months, i.e., the communication strategy linked to the newsletters and the scheduled publication on social media.

What is a social media communication strategy?

The publication on social media follows strict rules and each platform has its own. That’s why each project will have a specific strategy for each social network, containing a study of the target audience, a social editorial calendar, dedicated texts and tags. In the specific case, the social strategy for a project and a product is defined separately.
